Today the organization I work for acknowledged the Juneteenth holiday by committing time to listen, observe, and learn. I have a number of takeaways to reflect on, but I want to share one with you now. I’m paraphrasing my dear friend, Camille Wallace. *Diversity is being invited to the dance. Inclusion is being asked to dance. Belonging is dancing like no one’s watching.* So, as you’re doing this work, ask yourself, “Am I asking someone to dance to my song or am I letting that person choose their own song and dancing with them?”
Today was just a step on a long road. I know there is more work to do. Looking for someone to work with your staff? Check out The Culture Queen.
